Party Prepare  …each resident is an individual, to be treated with the utmost respect…
Boronia Courtyard

Our Low Care (or Hostel Care) range of services are for residents requiring general care. We have a small number (18) general care beds (including 1 respite bed).

Hostel Care, in general, is designed to provide personal care services, but not nursing care.  These services include:

  • assistance and supervision with eating and drinking
  • treatments or procedures, including help with taking prescribed medication
  • assistance to maintain continence
  • assistance and supervision with dressing, undressing and fitting of artificial limbs and hearing aids
  • assistance and supervision with bathing, showering and personal hygiene.

In addition to providing a high standard of care as required by governing legislation, a range of additional facilities are offered to all residents. The low care facility comprises single bedrooms with own en-suite, separate dining and lounge areas, sitting rooms, gardens and courtyards and own kitchenette with gopher shed for residents with own gopher and own individual entrance to this area.  Such non-clinical facilities include; library, cinema, chapel, and day care. There is computer, internet and TV access to all rooms. Additional activities include involvement of residents “in bed” to group activities occurring in the main activity room.

Further clinical services available include; visiting medical officers, visiting geriatrician, podiatry, physiotherapy, some optical, dental, pharmacy and speech pathology, as well as additional non-clinical services such as hairdressing and dietary support.

A range of respite and palliative care services are also offered. Each room offers the perfect setting for palliative care which provides an appropriate environment for the resident, relatives and friends.

To provide a safe environment for both residents and staff, a range of security and safety features are incorporated into the low care facility including security procedures for entry and exiting the facility.  Cameras are located at various sites and these are backed up by security patrols that cover the facility throughout the evening.

Manual lifting devices are installed for the convenience and safety of residents and staff. There is an Occupational Health and Safety Committee which reviews the implementation of procedures and incidents, inspects the facility and equipment on a regular basis and provides monthly recommendations for changes when required.
