Our Independent Living units comprise 60, two-bedroom units located at Cherry Street, Ballina – approximately 2km from Ballina CBD. The brick veneer units have tiled roofs, generally including an attached garage, or alternatively a carport or detached garage may be available. Insulated, with screens fitted to all windows and doors, the units are provided with well equipped kitchens, separate bathroom and separate laundry with individual clothes drying areas. Each unit is fully carpeted except for kitchen, bathroom and laundry which are fitted with non-slip vinyl. Telephone and computer access points installed. Externally each unit has its own separate garden area. Prior to new resident moving in, each unit is fully refurbished.
The facility is centrally located in the Ballina Island area, close to the major shopping facilities of Ballina Fair, Ballina Central and Ballina town centre, churches of the major denominations and service clubs including Ballina Bowling Club and Ballina RSL Club.
The units are set in an idyllic environment with manicured gardens and walkways, and each unit has a high level of privacy. On site there is high quality community centre that offers activities such as snooker, indoor bowls and 107cm TV for movies which are held monthly. A Resident’s Committee convenes many functions including BBQs, arts and craft days, gentle exercise classes, Easter and Christmas functions, billiards and movie nights.
A range of value-added options are offered by St Andrew’s to residents living in the units. Our Welfare Officer is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.30-11.30am to provide assistance that residents may require.
